Forgotten man Matteo Guendouzi will permanently sign for Marseille this summer after a successful loan spell with the French side.

You may remember the ineffective and stroppy juvenile midfielder apparently fell out with Mikel Arteta and he was shipped out on loan to join William Saliba at Marseille, also on loan in France.

Smith-Rowe Returns

While Saliba has worked hard to get back to join Arteta at The Emirates, Guendouzi has taken the easy route and stayed at his safety net in France.

Guendouzi said:

“President Longoria and coach Sampaoli are the people who introduced me to the project and made me want to come. We talked about Marseille’s project, what I could bring to the team, how I was going to grow…”

There is talk about a £9/10m fee being offered for Guendouzi from the French side, but I think Arteta will be more than happy to get rid of yet another underperforming trouble maker from the books.

While it’s thought that Saliba will return to Arsenal in the summer to fight for a centre back shirt with Benny Blanco and Gabriel along with Rob Holding.
