As we approach the business end of the season, we could do with all the positives we can muster as the race for top four hots up.
After an exhilarating win at Wolves last week followed by our rivals all dropping points, the news today is that Takehiro Tomiyasu is back in what looked to be full training today, another huge boost to the run-in.
He missed the game at Wolves, but it looks like he’ll be back in contention for our game this weekend at home against Brentford.
He hasn’t played since aggravating his calf injury during our second leg Carabao Cup semi-final defeat, and despite two clean sheets in the games he’s missed, it will be great to get him back where he belongs, and to get the back-four-band back together again. I’ve just checked and Japan also kept two clean sheets without him against Saudi Arabia and a huge local derby against China.
Any road up, we will welcome Tomiyasu back with open arms as we’ll be missing Gabriel Martinelli who’ll be suspended for the game. His one-match ban is for his joke sending off in the second half of the win at Wolves.
More team news as we get it.
