Mohamed Elneny made the AFCON Team of the Tournament after his heroics for Egypt.

Elneny’s Egypt made it through the final of the tournament where they were beaten on penalties by Senegal, Liverpool’s Sadio Mane scoring the winning penalty despite missing one in normal time.

Tomiyasu a ‘big doubt’ for Wolves.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang didn’t even play in the tournament after contracting COVID in a pre-tournament meeting in Dubai. He was then diagnosed with some heart issues which meant he was sent back to Arsenal where he was then shifted out to Barcelona on a free transfer. Aubameyang had broken several club rules recently, and Arteta had had enough, leaving Aubameyang’s place in the squad untenable.

Nicolas Pepe was unlucky not to have also made the team of the tournament despite impressing for the Ivory Coast.

Let’s hope that Elneny and Pepe return to The Emirates and continue their fine form they displayed at the tournament.

Neither would expect to start for Arsenal despite their heroics in Cameroon but we’re are going to need everyone fighting fit and confident given how thin our squad is.

Arteta let several players go in January leaving us fairly short in most positions so two fringe players brimming in confidence can only be a good thing.
