Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left the building, and joined Spanish giants Barcelona on a free transfer. In a hastily self-engineered move, Aubaemyang is said to have been paid £7m to do one, and the 32 year old signed on the dotted line despite the move being mooted as dead several times on the Sky Transfer Deadline Day news.

However, the move was resurrected and Aubameyang got himself a move, and has played his last game for Arsenal, ironically his last ‘touch’ losing us two points away at Everton when he missed an all but open goal at Goodison to draw the game (which we should have won).

It’s thought the Barcalonians have added a nutty £85m release clause on the 32-year-old.

Aubameyang who netted 92 goals in 163 games for us, was guilty of a lack of discipline several times of late including actual lateness, missing games and not being where he should have been, frustrating Mikel Arteta.

As a result, Arteta went in hard on Aubameyang to try and enforce his authority and after going public due to ever-increasing frustration, their spat became untenable and there was no way back for Aubameyang who was outed like a dodgy belly button.

Auba gave us some good times, winning the FA Cup on his own in the famous 1-0-0-1 formation against Chelsea and was undeniably gracious after his £7m payout departure:

“We went through ups and downs together and your support meant everything to me, I have always been 100% focused and committed to doing everything I can for this club which is why leaving without a real goodbye hurts – but that is football. I’m sad I did not get the chance to help my teammates in the last few weeks, but I have nothing but respect for this club and truly wish all my guys and the fans all the best and many successful years in the future!”

Hm. Think we’ll leave that there, and just wish him all the best! Thanks for the memories Auba and good luck!
