At the end of a frankly shockingly bad week, the Arsenal terrible news keeps on coming as it was revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now tested positive for COVID.

The Gabon player has tested positive on arrival into Cameroon meaning his whole tournament could be put on hold. Fixture updates here and here.

Aubameyang’s team-mates Mario Lemina and the Gabon Assistant Coach Anicet Yela also tested positive as they arrived at the Cameroonian airport. The players are now awaiting confirmation of the positive results and are isolating in the team hotel.

Aubameyang’s Gabon are set to play the Comoros Islands on Monday, Ghana on January the 14th and then Morocco on January the 18th.

You may remember Aubameyang from such antics as ‘Ooh, I’ve got Malaria this week’ and ‘I need to pick my Mum up so I’m getting off the coach’ over the past few months. He’s generally been pretty terrible since signing a huge new contract and has recently been dropped from the Arsenal squad and it now looks increasingly like he may have missed his last game for the club.
