According The Express, Mikel Arteta is keen to tie down Bukayo Saka before his deal runs out next year.

With long term shoulder injuries to both Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac, Saka has found himself as first choice left back and has dazzled with some excellent games in the role. Kolasinac could be back by the end of the month, and Kieran Tierney is already in full training so it remains to be seen whether Arteta will keep Saka as left back or move him back to his preferred left midfield role. With all of the coronavirus suspensions and delays, both players should be back in contention for a return, if and when, Premier League football returns.

Arteta was recently asked about the youngsters Arsenal future, and replied:

“The club is doing what it has to do and is having conversations, we’ll get it resolved…”

Saka has notched up three goals and nine assists in the 30 games he’s played already and it’s thought that Man United and Liverpool are keeping tabs on the situation and could be keen on a move for the youngster based on this season’s exploits.

However, The Metro claim via The Times that ‘negotiations are stuttering’ with Saka who is currently on around £3,000 a week. A salary that could be seen as pretty low in Premier League terms, however, pretty good for someone who might work in Tescos.

His current deal is set to run until next summer and due to some amazing performances as an impromptu left back, he’s earned himself a new deal so lets hope Arteta can persuade him to stay.
