The AFCi medical corner have revealed on the official website today that Lucas Torreira will be out for eight to ten weeks, meaning that his season is pretty much over.
Torriera was scythed down by James Bolton during our 2-0 win at Portsmouth last week in the FA Cup and it was subsequently announced Bolton had fractured the Uruguayan’s ankle with the challenge.
There could still be a slim chance we could see him again this season however, as our last game at home against Watford on the 17th May is in around 10 weeks time. Following that, there’s still the FA Cup final. should we make it, a week later if we can get past Sheffield United and a Wembley semi-final.
The web-date says Chambers remains out and Sead Kolasinac is likely to return at the end of this month. Shkodran Mustafi has a tight thigh and may miss Man City on Wednesday night which could come as a blow given the German’s resurgent form of late.
In better news, new signing Cedric Soares is ‘aiming to be in full training this week…’ So who knows, we could even see him in action against Brighton on Saturday afternoon in our second 3 o’clock crazy kick-off in a week.
David Ornstein, has also reported that Hector Bellerin is taking painkillers due to a groin problem, which would explain why Sokratis was playing right-back against West Ham on Saturday.
He’s saying Bellerin is struggling to cross, full story here… but you’ll have to pay… in sweat! Oh, wait, no, that was something else…
