The official website today confirmed that Pompey centre-back James Bolton broke Lucas Torreira’s ankle after a very clumsy tackle during our 2-0 FA Cup win at Fratton Park on Monday.

In a routine transfer update on the official website they casually said that Torreira’s ankle was fractured and Mikel Arteta confirmed that he’d need to see a specialist to confirm the severity of the injury.

On Thursday morning, Arteta said in his pre-weekend Press Conference:

“He was quite positive this morning. I spoke with him and he was in pain. We don’t really know exactly the extent of the injury. He needs to see the specialist tomorrow here in London and we will know more about it…”

Despite no hospital treatment being required, the Uruguayan left the stadium after the win in a protective boot and it remains to be seen whether or not he will feature again this season.

There was, however good news concerning Kieran Tierney, who is now back in full training. It looks like he could make his comeback at home against West Ham on Saturday at The Emirates. Despite confirmed he was sure of an exact comeback date, Arteta said:

“He’s feeling more and more confident now with contact around him and hopefully he will join the squad soon…”

In better news, the club update also said that Cedric Soares will also be back in full training next week and Sead Kolasinac is aiming to be back by the end of March as the season lurches into its final stages.

Next up for Arsenal is the visit of West Ham on Saturday afternoon at The Emirates Stadium, kick off at 3pm.
