After last night’s win over Portsmouth, there’s now uncertainty over another one of our games. The Southampton game at St. Mary’s, originally scheduled for the 22nd of March, will now need to be rescheduled as we will no doubt be playing on the Monday night again as the FA and the Premier League clearly hate us.
In another controversial move which will not benefit us in any way as we try to qualify for the Champions League, the League have moved our away game at Man City to next Wednesday, yep the Wednesday in just seven days time. The game was originally meant to be played over the weekend just gone, but due to Man City’s electrifying (yawn!) final with Aston Villa (which they Zzzz… won 2-1) in the Carabao Cup, it was postponed.
Due to the short notice, it’s thought that Arsenal are furious at the rescheduling of the game, which is theoretically our game in hand.
In other news, Chelsea, Newcastle and Sheffield United also joined us in the last 16 beating Liverpool, West Brom and Reading respectively. The ties left in the round are Tottenham v Norwich, Leicester v Birmingham, Derby v Man United and Sheffield Wednesday v Man City.
The draw takes place tomorrow night after Man City’s match away at Sheffield Wednesday and will be on BBC One and iPlayer (in the UK).
Ball Numbers for the FA Cup draw, if you’re into that sort of thing:
- Sheffield Wednesday or Manchester City
- Sheffield United
- Chelsea
- Newcastle United
- Leicester City or Birmingham City
- Derby County or Manchester United
- Norwich City
- Arsenal
Our next actual game is this coming weekend against West Ham at The Emirates which is another great chance for us to close the gap on the other teams challenging for European qualification. We will confirm any firm fixture dates as and when they are confirmed.
