According a report from French Sports website Jeunes Footeux, Mikel Arteta could be close to making another signing from France, they claim that we are close to signing defensive midfielder Pope Alassane Gueye from Le Havre.
Sevilla, Udinese, Fiorentina and AC Milan are also said to be tracking the player but it’s thought he wants a move to the Premier League this summer and the publication claims that we are ‘very close to an agreement’. There were also rumours of Premier League interest last year from West Ham, Brighton and Leicester, three sides all said to be tracking the Senegalese midfielder.
Gueye’s contract expires next year so it’s thought that Le Havre want to cash in on the 21 year old and are looking for around 6 millions Euros for the lad at the end of the season.
The Sun also claims that Gueye has commented on an Instagram post posted by Matteo Guendouzi prompting further links on a move to The Emirates.
By no means a solid rumour, but it sounds like it could be a go-er as Arteta continues to rebuild the squad following the acquisition of Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares.
