After what seems like a lifetime ago since we drew 0-0 away at Burnley (booooo!), the mid-winter break is thankfully almost at an end and we prepare to face Newcastle United at The Emirates this Sunday afternoon.
Some good news has come out of Arteta’s presser, with Sead Kolasinac, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka all passed fit for the Super Sky Soaraway Soccer Six Sunday Special.
Kolasinac returns from his thigh injury, Saka from his knee knock, and Reiss Nelson also returns after three weeks out with some injury or other to a part of his leg, which he obviously no longer has so I won’t waste my time finding out.
Sadly, our new signings are still a bit away from first team action, Pablo Mari could be in line for a debut next Thursday against Olympiacos in the Europe League but Cedric Soares is still a couple of weeks away from being involved. He currently has a knee ligament injury and is planning to be back training by the end of February following his surprise move from Southampton.
Team news wouldn’t be team news without a quick mention of Kieran Tierney’s pesky shoulder and Calum Chambers stupid Cruciate Ligament surgery both of which are keeping them out of proceedings for a while yet.
The game comes on the back of our Dubai training camp in the middle of the winter break and a home win is vital to keep our slim top four aspirations alive.
This game is followed by two more winnable home games, so gives us a good chance to close some gaps and climb some places in the Premier League.
