Arsenal have returned from a training camp in Dubai and should be all set to face Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, live on Sky Sports. New signings Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares were present at the camp, both signed since our last game, the disappointing 0-0 draw at Burnley which definitely gives the team a fresh new look.

What remains now is a mini-season of 13 remaining, yet winnable games (except perhaps Liverpool at home and Man City away!) to try and get ourselves up to the heady heights of 4th place. We have a proverbial mountain to climb to claw back the 10 points we need to catch Chelsea to secure a Champions League place, but it is doable with a huge slice of luck and a trailing wind. We also remain in the Europa League and the FA Cup, so things could be worse, but it is going to take a monumental effort by Arteta’s boys to get anything out of this season if we are being honest with ourselves.

In some early team news, it looks like long term absentee Calum Chambers will miss the game, with a return date of next season being mooted due to his ACL surgery. Everyone’s suspensions have now been served, Aubameyang and Luiz both fully back in action after their bans.

Kieran Tierney, while making good progress, is still a few weeks away following his shoulder dislocation. Sead Kolasinac may return to the fold however, after his thigh injury, Reiss Nelson is also being linked with a return after missing a few weeks through injury.

Bukayo Saka could yet miss the game after being injured against Burnley almost two weeks ago and it remains to be seen whether our two new signings will feature in the game. Pablo Mari looks likely to be involved in some capacity, while Cedric Soares is still carrying a knock and looks to be a couple of weeks away following his shock move from Southampton.

Hopefully we will have some more news later on, as our refreshed squad looks to salvage something from the season.
