Our defensive injury worries look to be easing and it looks like Sead Kolasinac and Shkodran Mustafi are both in with a slim chance of being ready to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
The defensive pair will be assessed closer to kick off, but could be in line to feature in the last game before the unprecedented mid-season break. After Sunday’s game we then have two weeks off to get everyone closer to fitness ahead of the Newcastle home game in 2 weeks time.
Kolasinac recently picked up a thigh strain and Mustafi was stretchered off as a precaution during our narrow 2-1 FA Cup win against Bournemouth at the start of the week.
As things click back into action for Mikel Arteta, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz are both set to return to their three and one match bans respectively. Calum Chambers remains out for the season with his ACL rupture.
In another piece of good news, Reiss Nelson (hamstring) and Kieran Tierney (shoulder) were both pictured training today so could be back soon.
Meanwhile, our transfer business looks to be complete after the signatures of defenders Pablo Mari from Flamengo and Cedric Soares from Southampton. It was revealed that Soares is out for three weeks so won’t be able to help us out against Burnley this weekend.
