After Calum Chambers was stretchered off during our defeat by Chelsea at The Emirates at the end of December, our defence is looking more threadbare than ever as the January transfer window finally opens offering Mikel Arteta the chance to plug some gaps.
Calum Chambers found out that he will be out for around nine months after it was revealed he had sustained cruciate ligament damage during the disappointing, crushing and somewhat devastating 2-1 defeat between Christmas and New Year.
The club revealed that Chambers had an operation a couple of days after picking up the injury and will now be out for between ‘6-9 months’ meaning its likely that Arteta will need to dip into the transfer market to bolster our already thin defence.
Chambers tweeted:
Devastated to end 2019 like this!
If there’s one message I’d like to get across it’s that I’m DETERMINED to come back stronger than I’ve ever been before!
I would like to say a massive thank you for all the messages and support I’ve been given over the last couple of day’s! 🙌🏼 pic.twitter.com/VWMpdrPvI5— Calum Chambers (@CalumChambers95) January 3, 2020
With Bellerin still struggling with his fitness, Rob Holding yet to come back from his injury and Tierney out long term it surely means the best looking Spaniard we know has to buy or at least find a loan option.
