According to reports Bayern Munich will not be selling alleged Arsenal target Jerome Boateng this January, scuppering Arteta’s transfer plans (if true).
It was mooted that Mikel Arteta had earmarked Boateng as cover for the injured Calum Chambers, but it now looks like it’s a no go, even if this interest was true. With the departure of Mavropanos this weekend and the injury to Chambers, plus that of Tierney and Bellerin and Holding’s persistent injury worries, we surely need some form over cover, but this tweet confirms that Boateng is staying:
Update @JB17Official: @FCBayern informed Boateng that he is not allowed to leave the Club in winter due to the small squad (our @SPORTBILD Story) @altobelli13

AC Milan and us were apparently the front runners to try and prise the prize defender away from Munich, but the Germans want to keep the player to retain their small yet strong squad ethos. There were also rumours yesterday of an Arteta move for John Stones from Manchester City, not sure how much truth there is in this one either.
While we’re on the subject of Munich and Arsenal, it looks like Serge Gnabry is injured ahead of the second part of the German season. Gnabry picked up an Achilles issue and pulled out of the club’s training camp in Qatar and will be assessed.
The clubs caretaker manager Hansi Flick (great name lad) said:
“He has Achilles tendon problems. We have to treat it very, very seriously, and hope to have him back soon…”
Get well soon Serge!
Was Eddie Nketiah’s next move accidentally revealed last night?
