Arsenal were booed off at the final whistle, despite a late, late equaliser courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette as Southampton were unlucky not to take all three points at The Emirates on Saturday.
We had found ourselves behind twice after Danny Ings had put the Saints ahead in the 8th minute, and James Ward-Prowse’s, scoring the rebound from his saved penalty in the 71st minute looked to have won the game for the visitors.
Lacazette got both the Arsenal goals in yet another disappointing performance under Unai Emery and the Frenchman didn’t celebrate the second equaliser which tells you all you need to know about Arsenal at the moment.
Luckily for us, and Emery, Southampton took their eye off the ball in the 96th minute for Lacazette to ghost in and take a share of the points, totally undeserved you’d have to say, even as an Arsenal fan.
To be fair, had Southampton been more clinical in front of goal, the score could have been anything, we were just soooo poor and deserved nothing from the game.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery said on the BBC website:
“We will take one good result to give us the confidence and chance to improve. Today we lost that opportunity. I can understand how the supporters feel about the team and about me. I can only say to them I’m going to work hard for a good performance and to show we can be better…”
Next up is a home Europa League tie with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday and then we travel to Norwich in the Premier League on Sunday, fingers crossed Emery can turn things around or this is going to be one long season.
