In a ten goal thriller at Anfield, our young guns were unlucky to go out of The Carabao Cup, losing on penalties to Liverpool’s youngsters.

20-year-old Liverpool keeper Kelleher saved Dani Ceballos’ penalty to send the hosts through on penalties breaking Arsenal hearts.

We looked to have done enough to inflict a rare win over Liverpool at Anfield until Divock Origi’s 94th-minute scissor kick had sent the game straight to penalties.

Amazingly, we were just seconds away from going in at half time 3-1 up after finding ourselves 1-0 down after Mustafi’s own goal on five minutes.

Ozil set up Saka for a shot, which was pushed back into Torreira’s path who made no mistake with the rebound to pull the scores level. Gabriel Martinelli scored twice to make it 3-1. Harvey Elliott then dived to cheat a penalty for Liverpool on the stroke of half time, James Milner slotting home Liverpool’s second.

Ozil provided another assist to make it 4-1, setting up Ainsley Maitland-Niles before old-boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a screamer before Origi made it 4-4.

Joe Willock thought he’d won it for Arsenal scoring our fifth on the night before Origi scored again in the dying seconds.

This was only the fifth match in League Cup history to see both teams score five or more goals

Next up for us Arsenal is the visit to The Emirates of Wolves, where Emery will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league.
