Unai Emery has denied that Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal career isn’t over, despite rumours of him looking to leave as he’s out of favour with the Spaniard.

John Cross invented a non-story containing zero facts or quotes a few days ago, and Unai Emery has been quick to shut down the (invented) report.

Despite only playing twice this season, Emery has said he’s had his reasons for not choosing Ozil via The Evening Standard:

“This year started difficult for him. He worked well in pre-season and he was playing in the games. But then the problem he had along with Sead [Kolasinac] stopped him. After that he was sick for one week and then he lost a lot of training to keep his fitness…”

Ozil and Kolasinac, along with their wives were targeted for a robber by two armed men on motorbikes and this is thought to have affected Ozil, the drive of the car at the time.

Sounds like he is on the comeback trail and Emery still sees the German World Cup winner as having a part to play as the season gathers pace.

The moral of the story is – don’t believe everything you read in the papers… especially if John Cross has made it up.
