After what felt like disastrous draws with Spurs and Watford, we turn our attention to cocking up in Europe this week instead with a trip to Germany to play Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
Frankfurt made the semi-finals last year, also losing to Chelsea so will be tough opponents especially given the fragile state of our defence at the moment, however, there is some good news on that score as The Daily Mail seem to think (without much proof or quotes) that Rob Holding is going to declare himself fit ahead of the short trip to Germany.
If Holding was to return, both David Luiz and Sokratis would be looking over their shoulder and worrying about keeping their place after a string of point-costing, individual errors in recent weeks, most noticeably Sokratis’ role in Watford’s first goal on Sunday which led to two points dropped.
David Luiz gave away his second penalty for Arsenal in four games, after conceding just THREE in over 160 Premier League games for Chelsea so could make way for Holding.
Alexandre Lacazette is also out for a few more weeks, while Konstantinos Mavropanos has also struggled with various issues and remains on the sidelines but played in a Premier League 2 game with Leicester last weekend.
Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney are both back in full first team training and should be in action in the coming weeks for Arsenal.
