Sokratis has apologised for his defensive disasterclass away at Watford on Sunday afternoon.

The Greek centre back gave the ball away in our own area from a goal kick allowing Tom Cleverley to score and get his side back into the game despite us being 2-0 up at half time.

We were inexplicably attempting to play out from the back and Sokratis’ attempted ‘pass’ to Matteo Guendouzi was cut out by Gerard Deulofeu, who passed to Cleverley who lashed the ball home for 1-2. This goal sparked the crowd into action, and spurred Watford on to get an equaliser and take a share of the spoils.

Sokratis took to Twitter later on Sunday to say:

Fingers crossed we can avoid any more costly errors and the giving away of needless penalties in our upcoming fixtures, starting with Aston Villa this Sunday.
