Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabbed The Golden Boot on the final day of the season scoring twice as Arsenal won 3-1 at Turf Moor. We finished the season in 5th place, meaning unless we win the Europa League at the end of May we face another season missing EastEnders on a Thursday night.

Aubameyang finished the league season with 22 goals, level with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Mo Salah and will share the trophy.

We didn’t get going until the second half where Aubameyang took advantage of a rare Ben Mee mistake to put us 1-0 up. He scored his second around the hour mark, and missed a gilt edged chance for his hat-trick. Ashley Barnes scored to get Burnley back into the game but Eddie Nketiah came on to finish the tie, nutmegging the Burnley keeper to make it 3-1.

Sadly, there was no repeat of the 1-1 at Newcastle, or the 5-1 at Newcastle this year, and we were just nudged out of the Champions League places, despite the win.

After the game, Aubameyang said:

“I am happy we won, and I am sharing this [Golden Boot] trophy with two other guys I like. My teammates knew about the Golden Boot, I said nothing. I did not want them to play and only focus on me. I am a team player. The team have had a great season but last month it has not been the best in the league…”

After what will always be remained as a poor league campaign, we still (somehow) have the chance to end the season on a high with a trophy and Champions League football next year should we beat Chelsea in Baku on May 29th.
