We managed to notch up a rare away win at high flyers Huddersfield this weekend, with an even rarer goal from Alex Iwobi and one from Alexandre Lacazette.
Once again our squad was depleted with Aubameyang, Ramsey and Xhaka all missing, while Ozil was once again ‘ill’ and missed the cold, long trip up to Yorkshire.
Iwobi put us up after quarter of an hour with a volley which was deflected, then just before the break Lacazette doubled our lead. Things looked comfortable through the most part of the second half until we let in our customary goal after Kolasinac somehow bundled in a cross for 2-1, which thankfully was how it finished.
If the truth be told, the game wasn’t actually that comfortable as Huddersfield played some nice football while we laboured towards all three points. With Chelsea dropping points at City (and then some!) the race for the top 4 is hotting up, and we are by no means out of it as yet.
However, if we are going to win the coveted top four trophy, we are going to need to pull our socks up. With the FA Cup taking place this weekend it means we only have Europa League to worry about (twice).
Then our next league game isn’t until the 24th of February where we host Southampton at The Emirates. Following that its Bournemouth at home, Sp*rs away (venue TBA), United at home and Wolves away, so all to play for, especially if we can get something at the new WHL/Wembley/Milton Keynes and then knock the wheels off the United/Solskjaer bandwagon.
