Arsenal overturned the form book to run out 2-0 winners against London rivals Chelsea at The Emirates on Saturday night. With 6 points between us before kick off, it was a must-win for Arsenal to keep Chelsea in our sights for the race for the Champions League spots.

Liverpool were lucky to notch another win against Palace, while City and United won comfortably, meaning nothing but a win would do or we’d be too far out of touch, and even behind United.

Chelsea didn’t offer too much in attack and in truth the scoreline could have been much more than the 2-0, Aubameyang guilty of missing a few opportunities.

Alexandre Lacazette and Captain/Man of the Match Laurent Koscielny both notched first half goals, and Chelsea hit the post, but threatened very little in front of Leno’s goal.

With Oil on the bench, Emery made some second half subs, putting Maitland-Niles on for Aaron Ramsey, Iwobi came on for Lacazette and Elneny replace the injured Bellerín. The Cockney Spaniard was stretchered off with a serious looking knee problem which could keep him out for a while. If only there was some kind of time during the middle of the season where clubs can spend money and buy players?

The lads have a week off now until our next game which is Manchester United in the FA Cup at The Emirates this Friday in what promises to be a cracker. Then a week on Tuesday we entertain Cardiff before we head to a rampant Man City and then Huddersfield after that and this weekend’s great win would have done our confidence no harm at all.
