Manager Unai Emery has confirmed that both Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil will be in squad for our HUGE Europa League game at The Emirates this Thursday.
FC Qarabag come to Arsenal in a massive clash which at the end of 90 minutes, will determine which side wins the game, the final match of the group stage. Arsenal have already qualified for the next round, smashing the life out of Group E but Emery will be using the game to help the fitness of Ozil and Koscielny who are both returning from injury.
Ozil was supposedly dropped back in November and has since been missing through ‘back spasms’, while Laurent Koscielny has been out since the end of last season with an Achilles injury which required an operation causing the Frenchman to miss the World Cup.
Emery said:
“Ozil is in the group, there are 18 players in the squad for this match and I am going to decide if he plays tomorrow from the beginning or during the match in the 90 minutes…”
Emery also confirmed Koscielny could return:
“We are going to look also if he can play 90 minutes or less minutes in this game. We can use another player in this position, someone like Nacho Monreal, who is also with us and in his career he played in this position. We are going to decide but the first is to think about the match tomorrow because we need to receive information on how he can feel tomorrow…”
Koscielny’s return would be most welcome as Sokratis and Mustafi are both out of the weekend’s game at Southampton following their 5th bookings of the season.
