Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow in their pursuit of one of the 2018 World Cup sensations. Argentinean Cristian Pavon. The winger was on the Gunners’ radar but has signed a new deal with his current club, Boca Juniors, a deal designed to ward off any attempts to sign the Argentine.
The 22-year-old is highly rated by Arsenal head coach, Unai Emery who would have loved to have bought him to the club this summer.
Despite making six signings already so far for £70m, Arsenal seem ready to still go all out to make more deals if the right player becomes available, according to Unai Emery.
Pavon’s new contract means that his release clause of £37.5m would need to be met for him to consider a move away from Boca Juniors. Right-winger Pavon is said to have signed a new four year contract, keeping him under contract until 2022.
Hard to believe that Unai Emery would be will to tempted to part with that much cash after already spending over £70m to overhaul his squad with no one leaving aside from Jack Wilshere so far but stranger things have happened.
