Arsenal’s first signing of the summer, Stephan Lichtsteiner has formerly announced himself as an Arsenal player on day one of his contract via Twitter. The former Juventus defender’s contract expired on the last day of June which made him an official Arsenal player from the 1st of July.
The 34 year old right back allowed his contract to run out at Juventus and decided to seek a new challenge outside Italy. Lichsteiner was until they recently got knocked out, participating in the World Cup with his national team, Switzerland.
Writing on Twitter, Lichtsteiner said:
“This is officially my first day as a Gunner! I am excited and extremely proud to be part of the @Arsenal family and to wear this jersey.
“I will give my all for the team and for the Arsenal fans! Together, we will work hard every day to achieve our objectives.”

He will be linking up with the rest of his Arsenal team mates after the World Cup and will be looking to settle quickly in London with the help of his fellow countryman, Granit Xhaka.
Arsenal will be hoping to get the best out of the veteran defender as he will be coming to the team with bag loads of experience. His leadership prowess will be useful in the Arsenal team along with the quality he brings to the team.
Arsenal fans will be hoping this post Wenger era will start off with a few more signings coming in before the season kicks off in August.
