Arsenal are said to be all set to seal a transfer for Stephan Lichtsteiner, with the Swiss man said to be set to join the North London club this summer. The former Juve right back will be joining Arsenal to boost the back line and given his age, he is expected to sign a one year deal with the option of another year extension next season.

The right back flew in to the Arsenal training ground a few weeks ago for talks, The Gunners wanting to capitalise on the defender’s decision not to sign a new deal. The player is thought to be in search of a new adventure which Arsenal is ready to offer after his seven years in Italy.

The decision by Arsenal to bring in another right back is due to the fact that Hector Bellerin is currently the only option in that position for the club.

Bringing a 34-year-old defender in just shows that it’s just a short-term fix by the club which makes lot of sense. Experience and leadership qualities are a few of the things that he will bring to Arsenal, something which the club is short of at the moment.

The coming days will be interesting for Arsenal as they could be announcing a double deal for both Lichtsteiner and Dortmund’s Papasthopoulos. The club is trying as much as possible to round up most transfer deals before the end of World Cup. New Manager Unai Emery and Sven Mislintant have their job cut out to lead the club back to the glory days.
