Arsenal and Jack Wilshere are hopeful something concrete will be agreed soon as regards to a new contract extension, according to Sky Sports this week.

Jack Wilshere is in the last year of his contract at Arsenal and he will be free to move on at the end of the season. Wilshere is confident that he will be staying at the club which means a contract extension needs to be sorted out soon, and with the uncertainty around the new manager, things are far from sorted.

The 26-year-old wants to stay at The Emirates and if latest reports are to be believed, the club has offered an improved contract. Wilshere was reportedly offered an initial contract on pay as you play which he rejected but the latest report claims that he has now been offered an improved deal of around £100k a week to stay at The Emirates.

Wilshere is the longest serving player at Arsenal and seeing him move to another club at this point in his career will not be something most Arsenal fans want to see.

If Wilshere signs a new deal, he will be keen to prove his worth to whoever replaces Arsene Wenger this summer.
