Out of the blue, Arsenal announced the extension of Rob Holding’s contract on Tuesday which came as a surprise to many fans. It is a welcome development for the club as they have tied one of the future prospects to a long term deal.

Many are clamouring for Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey to be rewarded with a new contract at the club or in the case of Wilshere, who is in the last few months of his contract, this could mean that he will be free to go elsewhere at the end of the season.

With Wilshere now fully fit and playing regularly, many fans expect the club to have reached an agreement over a contract extension with him by now. Wilshere doesn’t look like a player who wants to leave his boyhood club but the club are finding it difficult reaching an agreement on the new contract due to wages and other formalities but this could just be down to a busy laying schedule.

As for Ramsey, the Welshman has been one of the best players for the club this season and entering the last year of his contract next season means that the club will have to act quickly (again) to avoid a situation like the Alexis Sanchez saga happening again.

The latest report in The Daily Mail suggests the club have offered Wilshere an improved contract and something could be announced before the end of the season.

With Arsene Wenger set to leave at the end of the season, whoever comes in to replace him will have to settle lot of contract issues within the club.
