Jack Wilshere will miss England’s friendly on Friday night due to a knee injury it was revealed today.

Wilshere hasn’t made an appearance for England since the infamous Euro 2016 debacle, where England were unceremoniously dumped out of the tournament, humiliated by Iceland.

Jack has been playing well for Arsenal this season after returning from a loan spell at Bournemouth which was cut short by a leg break. There are also more rumours today about Wilshere not signing a new deal and leaving Arsenal in the summer, Sam Allardyce hinting at a possible move to reunite Wilshere with his ex-teammate Theo Walcott.

England Boss Gareth Southgate said, as reported by the Metro, on Thursday afternoon:

“Jack felt some tendon in his knee. It’s something he’s felt before. It’s nothing too serious. Hopefully over the next couple of days that will settle down. It’s something that in the past has settled down quickly…”

There is still chance Jack could return for the friendly next week with Italy at our second ground; Wembley, as he tries to improve his chance of making the European Championships in Russia this summer.
