There have been several reports about a meeting between Arsenal players after the defeats to Manchester City last week.
The outcome of the meeting is that several issues were raised concerning the poor performance of the team and the meeting was held in the absence of Wenger which sounds like the Arsenal squad at least are becoming to plan for life without Wenger.
It was an emotional meeting for one senior member of the club (said to be Laurent Koscielny) as he broke down in tears. There has never been a period where Arsene Wenger has looked more likely to leave The Emirates but the Frenchman remains in charge at the club.
The club captain; Per Mertesacker apparently led the meeting in which the players deliberated on the current situation at the club.
The Guardian reported that a player broke down in tears after his kids have asked him why his team have been so poor like this. Another player was reported to have step into the scenario when he said: “We are a big club but we need more help from the coaches…” he said with another replying that: “It’s not going to happen. We need to find the answers ourselves…”
Among those touted to replace Arsene Wenger are Leonardo Jardim, Joachim Low, Carlo Ancelotti and the shock link which is Brendan Rodgers.
Arsene Wenger finds himself under increasing pressure at The Emirates but still has another year left on his current contract so it would be down to the board and owner to act and replace him, but there’s nothing going on behind the scenes to suggest this is going to happen.
