We smashed our record fee for a player this week as we finally signed a replacement for Olivier Giroud 😉 with the announcement of Gaboan striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The striker signed for a fee through to be around £53m after a week of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund who signed Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan for the rest of the season.

Arsene Wenger revealed on Arsenal.com that the German clubs need for a replacement meant the Aubameyang transfer went to the wire, and we finally got it over the line on deadline day.

There is now a doubt that he will play against Everton this weekend as Wenger revealed that he hasn’t been well this week, so his debut could be delayed, possibly for the Tottenham game next weekend.

With offensive players like Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud and last but least Alexis Sanchez, we had a huge need to get some firepower in, and Aubameyang alongside Mkhitaryan, Lacazette and Mesut Ozil will provide a fresh strikeforce option for Arsenal.

Welcome, and good luck Pierre!
