After this week’s heroics in the League Cup (the UK’s premier domestic cup competition), there’s no game this weekend as we decided to opt out of the UK’s secondary domestic cup competition. This means we return to action on Tuesday next week with a rare trip into Europe, well Wales, and a visit to Swansea.
During Friday morning’s press conference Arsene Wenger revealed that Olivier Giroud will return to the squad, while it will be too soon for Danny Welbeck to return to action.
Wenger said:
“Giroud should be back in the squad for Swansea, Welbeck is too early, and that’s basically it…”
The Metro report rumours of a surprise raid for Giroud by Chelsea, though nothing more to it than rumours at this stage.
More team news next week ahead of the game, but our new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make his Arsenal debut and everyone else, bar poor Santi should be fit.
We could be in line to sign Gabon international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well this week from Borussia Dortmund, but it’s not yet known if he’ll be signed in time to face the Swans on Tuesday night. The Star claim that the deal is almost done and could be announced today.
