Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have been the subject of much transfer speculation since the close of the last summer window and Arsene Wenger has given his official verdict on whether or not they’ll leave The Emirates during the January transfer window.
The two players, along with Jack Wilshere now have less than 7 months to run on their contract which means that Arsenal only have the next window to sell them if they want to make any cash if they continue to refuse to sign contract extensions.
Arsene Wenger in his pre-match conference ahead of the match against Huddersfield Town said that both players will not be sold in the January transfer window unless something ‘amazing happens’.
Asked whether they were going to be Arsenal players on February the 1st, Wenger said as quoted by the official club site:
“Yes, of course, I’m not even considering the chance to leave in January, while they’re here, they’ll make the most of themselves for Arsenal. In my thoughts they will be here to the end of the season. This was the decision at the very beginning of the campaign If nothing amazing happens it will not change. Whether they will stay after the end of the season it is impossible to answer today I am not the only one on whom this depends…”
Sanchez has been on the radar of Manchester City since last summer and they are still hopeful of landing the Chilean attacker along with PSG who have the makeweight of Julian Draxler in their favour. Mesut Ozil on the other hand has been rumoured to be drawing attention from both Barcelona and Manchester United so we’ll have to wait and see what happens, but with yet more backroom staff coming in today, there could be a good chance we may manage to keep our two best players after all.
