Arsenal have again been linked with a move for Paris St. Germain’s German striker Julian Draxler. We have continuously been linked with a move for the German since his early days in Schalke and the rumours just won’t die down.
However, a new twist to the story emerged on Wednesday when a reputable newspaper in France, L’Equipe reported that Arsenal have been in contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible January loan deal for the 24-year-old.
Draxler is being touted as a possible replacement for either Sanchez or Ozil should either/both leave in January and with the arrival of Neymar and M’Bappe at PSG, Draxler has found it hard to get a foothold in the side.
Draxler will be the first player the North London giant will want to go for should Sanchez and/or Ozil leave in January. In an interview early this year with Football.london as report coming from BBC Draxler said:
“Arsenal have been in contact since about two or three years ago but I was not in touch with them this winter. I like English football. I like the Premier League of course – it’s one of the best leagues in the world. You have big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United – of course it’s a big dream to play for them. I have my favorite team, but at the moment I’m at Schalke. I don’t want to talk about other clubs. If I state Arsenal or Manchester United, maybe I’d read it tomorrow in the newspapers…”
What Arsenal will hope to capitalise on is the good relationship between Draxler and the Arsenal German players, Draxler also played with Sead Kolasinac at Schalke 04 while he, Ozil and Mustafi are team mates in the German national team.
