Arsenal defender, Shkodran Mustafi has called out everyone who has recently been saying he wants to leave the club. Mustafi was linked with a move to Inter Milan last summer but the move never saw the light of the day and the 2014 World Cup and 2017 Confederations Cup winner was not pleased with those reports.

Despite just joining Arsenal a year ago the rumours keep linking him to Inter Milan and Mustafi maintains that he has never considered leaving Arsenal at any point. After scoring the opener in Arsenal 2-0 win over arch rival, Tottenham, Mustafi told journalists in an interview all about his decision to stay at Arsenal in no uncertain terms…

“You like to get the s***, the biggest s***,” the German international told reporters when quizzed on the exit talk, as quoted by Goal.

“That’s your job. You are asking me about it; it’s your job from the people outside, talking and thinking that they know everything. What happens in the changing room is the real thing. I don’t understand why people just talk about things they cannot know about. If I have been talking to clubs or if I haven’t, it’s only rumours. Obviously there are so many newspapers; they need something to write because it’s boring if the paper is empty. I’m standing in front of you in an Arsenal shirt…”

He also discussed the North London Derby win and was very delighted to have scored after coming back from injury:

“There was nothing more [than] to win, so I think we did it well. We showed a great character, when we had the ball but also when we didn’t have it. In the end I’m really pleased with the performance and the character we showed…”

Mustafi’s overdue return has brought stability back to the Arsenal defence which can only help going into the next couple of games. Arsenal will now travel to Burnley this weekend as they hope to close the gap with table toppers Manchester City who are still a whopping 12 points ahead of Arsenal and remain unbeaten.
