Arsene Wenger has come out again to reiterate the commitment of his two most talked about players, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Wenger has come under lot of scrutiny from fans and media about the future of both players, Sanchez and Ozil both have less than a season left in their current contracts. They will be free to speak to foreign suitors from January and start tying themselves in with pre-contract deals. The contract saga of the two players has been seen to be affecting the current Arsenal performances on the pitch.
However, their excellent performances on Saturday in the North London derby win has forced fans to have a rethink that both players might still stay at the club. Wenger’s post game remarks about the players might also be something to be hopeful about.
Alexis Sanchez scored the second goal while Ozil created the first goal for Mustafi which gave the Gunners the 2-0 win. Ozil’s performance was so outstanding that he won the man of the match award and went off to a standing ovation from The Emirates faithful.
After the match Wenger said, as quoted by BBC:
“I am convinced they love the club and love the team, but all the rest will be decided – when? I don’t really know. I believe they love the club and want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well…”
It is likely that if they won’t sign a new contract by January, the club will sell before the close of the winter transfer window to avoid losing them both for nothing in the summer.
