One of the best potential goalkeeping talents in Spain is Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and the Spanish international is getting lot of attention recently from potential suitors.
His international team-mate; David De Gea has advised the 23-year-old to seal a new deal and stay in Spain, his comments coming amid interest from Arsenal and Real Madrid, according to a report from The Metro.
De Gea heaped praise on his team mate, Arrizabalaga by saying he has a ‘long career ahead of him’ and says he quickly realised in training that he was a ‘great goalkeeper’.
De Gea also said ahead of Spain’s 3-3 draw with Russia on Tuesday evening:
“All the players like me that leave Spain, we are not followed as much as those that are playing at home and people forget a little bit about us…”
Arrizabalaga has been capped for the Spanish national team and he is expected to make the plane to the Russia 2018 World Cup next year. De Gea’s comments may come as a blow to Arsenal as the Spaniard has been touted as Petr Cech’s replacement yet now Real Madrid may now have the edge in persuading the goalkeeper to come in January.
