Arsenal might have finally made a breakthrough in their attempt to try and get Mesut Ozil to sign a new contract, however it might be at a huge cost to another player.

Reports from the The Sun say that Ozil is demanding to be given the number 10 shirt if he is to stay at the club, which is currently being worn by Jack Wilshere, oh… and he’s demanding a whopping £330,000-a-week.

The German international has less than 8 months on his contract and will be available to leave on a free next summer and so far Arsenal have got nowhere in their attempts to tie him down on a long term deal.

Ozil who also wears the German national team number 10 shirt now apparently wants Wilshere’s club number in order to boost his well know Ozil brand as part of any deal to stay.

The former Madrid star wore the 10 shirt but could not get it at Arsenal when he arrived as Wilshere had already taken it.

Wilshere has only played twice in the league this season and both came as a substitute and his own future is far from decided so who knows who will be wearing the number 10 shirt next season, Ozil, Wilshere or someone else entirely. Like many things around our club at the moment, it all seems up in the air and far from settled but needs addressing sooner rather than later.
