The January transfer market is fast approaching and rumours are already hotting up as clubs start to look for players and for Arsenal, one of our prime targets is said to be young Ajax midfielder, Frenkie De Jong.
According to reports in The Sun, Wenger is personally interested in this transfer and has already discussed a deal with Ajax. Sadly though, we are not the only club interested in the 20-year-old star with Man City also having had initial talks, with a keen interest in snapping up the talented player. Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation of the former Willem II man.
He made his debut last November and he has been a great contributor already this season, currently second place in the Dutch league at the moment, the player having played seven times in the league.
The Sun is suggesting Arsenal and City are the leading contenders in the race for the Dutch under 21 player who will cost around £5m, Wenger will not be scared off by the valuation and he’s likely to sanction the move in January.
With just 18 months left on his contract, Ajax will need to offer De Jong a new long term deal or perhaps cash in on him come January.
