All hope is not lost in Arsenal pursuit of Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar despite the apparent, sudden interest from Barcelona which we told you about the other day.
Arsene Wenger has not ruled out the possibility of going back in for the Frenchman come January as it looks like we could be rebuilding our squad with the imminent departure of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Lemar was heavily linked with Arsenal in the last transfer window, but due to the lateness of the activity the deals collapsed.
As the January winter window draws nearer, news has been emerging that the Gunners could submit a fresh bid for the 21-year-old winger and Wenger has continuously played down buying anyone new, saying his priority is to focus on keeping his current squad together.
In a recent news conference Wenger did not give deny wanting to go back in to get Lemar come January and is quoted by thesportreview as saying:
“No, at the moment I have told you I have a big squad and the problem for me is to keep everyone together until the end of the season. Do we go for the transfer market in January? I don’t know yet…”
We were beaten at high-flying Man City this weekend following some dubious refereeing as pressure mounts on Arsenal Wenger. We seem to be losing touch with the top sides and Spurs, and need to beat our old enemy after the international break to ensure we don’t lose touch completely.
