Rumours have been all over the media for some time now that Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are likely to leave the Emirates Stadium when the January transfer window opens.

Manchester United already have lot of quality players in their squad, but their coach, Jose Mourinho and his magic chequebook is still keeping tabs on the situation at The Emirates.

With Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick both in the final years of their contracts, Mourinho has entrusted the defensive midfield position to his new signing, Nemanja Matic and he’s now willing to look further in the market for a more creative option in midfield to compliment Paul Pogba.

A report from a reputable media outlet in Italy, Calcio Mercato has it that Mourinho has identified two German midfielders and Monaco’s French midfielder as his next target, Ozil, Kroos and Fabinho are all said to be on Mourinho’s shopping list.

The current contract debacle between Arsenal and Ozil which has left the midfielder with less than 8 months on his contract means it’s unlikely that Ozil sign a new contract at Arsenal. This implies that Arsenal could decide to cash in on him come January or face waiting until end of the season when he will be available for free.

Wenger predicts no Sanchez sale in January

No matter how the situation pans out, it is just a waiting game to see what happens and Arsenal fans will have to hope that an agreement is reached before the end of the year between the club and Ozil, if not; we might just start saying our goodbyes to arguably our best player in years.
