We booked our place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League last night with an abysmal 0-0 draw with European Cup winners Red Star Belgrade.

As expected Wenger chose another blend of youth and experience (youth-sperience) and regular ‘cup players’ Jack Wilshere, Oli G and Theo Walcott were also included in the starting XI, along with young keeper Matt Macey.

Macey was amazing in goal on the night, with a string of fine saves including one flying tip onto the bar, keeping us in the tie.

Olivier Giroud wasn’t on it and Theo, well…. was Theo again, surely his time is running out even for the most patient Arsenal fan. Jack Wilshere and Macey were probably the only players who stood out on a very poor night for Arsenal, it was cold, there were plenty of empty seats and unhappy Arsenal fans.

The result meant of course that the players were booed off the pitch, not sure why, wasn’t the greatest game, but we qualified with a clean sheet so struggling to understand why someone would boo that?!

Everton exited the competition after losing 3-0 to Lyon but our result now means we are in the last 32 and now waiting to see which sides drop down from the Champions League.

Bayern Munich anyone? haha
