Former Arsenal number 9, Lukas Podolski has hinted that he could return to FC Cologne in Germany. Podolski who currently plays in Japan for Vissel Kobe does not wish to retire in the Asian Country but hope to return to Germany one day.

The 31-year-old former Arsenal striker has never hidden his admiration to wear the jersey of the club where he started his career before moving to Bayern Munich.

In an interview with Tribal Football, Poldi said:

”I have never denied that I want to play for Koln again. Why should I talk around the bush? But I do not need to say anything. Koln is my club and means a lot to me, it would make me proud to once again wear their jersey…”

The former Golden Boy made his name when he first played as a teenager for Cologne scoring 51 goals in just 85 starts. This earned him a place in the German national side for the 2004 European Championship and a move to Munich.

He was unable to fit into their team and struggled for form and soon returned to Cologne and then to Arsenal in 2013.

A three year spell in England was fairly decent with The Gunners and he moved to Galatasary before joining Japanese club, Vissel Kobe. His 5 goals in 15 starts has helped the club to eighth in the J1 League table.
