FC Cologne have been charged £53,000 and have been ordered to pay Arsenal compensation after a chaotic Europa League clash with the Germans back in September.

The evening was mainly trouble free but there were flash points of away fans in the home end, and several battles outside as things got out of hand when it became clear the away fans didn’t have enough tickets.

Cologne and Arsenal had been at loggerheads throwing the blame at other for the events of the evening but it looks like the Germans will have to foot the bill of the damage they caused.

Thousands of German fans descended on The Emirates for the game, which was delayed by an hour after fans were fighting, setting off fireworks and pushing overy barriers and just being very naughty boys. The German side are also banned from selling away tickets for its next away European tie, but this ban has been suspended for two years.

Arsenal were also set to be hit with a UEFA charge but they dropped all charges of any wrong doing on our part.

We face Red Star at The Emirates on Thursday night, so let’s hope they don’t try and go one better than the Germans in London this week and really smash the place up.

Gulp.
