We are said to be hot on the trail of Barcelona winger Jose Arnaiz and Mundo Deportivo are reporting we are considering paying the Catalan’s £17.8m release clause to secure his services.

The Mirror via Mundo Deportivo say that Manchester United, Juventus, Napoli and Munich are all said to be keen on the player who only signed a three year deal with Barcelona last summer from Valladolid.

They also claim we have ‘made an enquiry’ for the player who could yet sign a contract extension to put off potential suitors, a move which would add millions to his release clause.

Despite having only played once for the senior team, scoring on his debut, the 22 year old has also netted four times in just eight games for the Barcelona B-team, stats which undoutedly speak for themselves.

The player would be a big step forward in the club’s attempt to replace Alexis Sanchez, who according to a report this morning wants to leave and City are preparing to persuade him to leave in the January window.

We entertain Swansea this weekend as we look to build on last weeks impressive win over Everton at Goodison Park.
