Arsenal are all set to appoint the ex-Barcelona Sporting Director to work closely with Arsene Wenger as the Frenchman’s Arsenal career approaches the end.
The former Barcelona Sporting DIrector who helped to bring Neymar Jnr to Barcelona; Raul Sanllehi to set to join the club, according to reports from The Metro.
Sanllehi is known for being the man in charge of brokering Neymar’s deal from Santos to Barcelona and was a target of many clubs then, but he is now expected to become the Director of Operations at Arsenal, if the reports coming out of Spain are true.
Many top European clubs were said to be interested in employing Sanllehi since he left his position at the Catalan club but it now looks like it’s Arsenal that will be the side to get him as we prepare for life without Arsene Wenger at the helm. He will work with Wenger and Ivan Gazidis to find ways to take the club to new heights and could yet still be instrumental in keeping hold of the big name players already at the club.
Sanllehi was credited for playing an instrumental role in bringing the likes of Neymar, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez to the Camp Nou, while also convincing our very own Alexis Sanchez to join Barcelona from Udinese during his 10 year tenure at the club.
Man City were among the teams thought to be tracking him, but it looks like we are going to land him after Dick Law’s recent departure, with Ivan Gazidis taking decisive action to bring him to The Emirates.
