We started the game really well, with probably our best XI, the first time this has happened this season but couldn’t make a breakthrough in the early exchanges.

No one was surprised however when Rooney struck against the run of play, beating the poorly positioned Cech all ends up with a top corner screamer with their only chance of the first half.

We continued to press and on the 40 minute mark, Nacho Monreal equalised after Pickford spilled a speculative long range effort, lashing home the rebound with a rocket left foot.

The second half, we were too much for Everton, and goals from Ozil, Lacazette, Sanchez and Ramsey saw us take all three points.

Niasse scored a late consolation for Everton at 4-1 after a mix up between Cech and Monreal, but we still had time to restore our three goal cushion to make it 5-2 at the death.

Ozil, Sanchez and Lacazette started together for the first time, and with them playing every week, I think we should be able to start marching up the league and have nothing to fear when we visit unbeaten Man City in two weeks time.

We play Norwich tomorrow (Tuesday) night in the Carabao Cup and then its a home game against Swansea this weekend. Spurs play Man United, while Chelsea and City have away games, while Liverpool play host to Man United’s conquerors this weekend, Huddersfield Town.

So after yesterday’s confidence boosting win, we have another good chance to make up further ground on the leaders.
