Arsenal are set to let Mesut Ozil leave the club in January according to reports. The club is becoming increasingly frustrated at Ozil not committing to the club and are now willing to find a buyer for the German in January.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners have now given up hope of the 29-year-old playmaker signing a new contract with the club.
Contract negotiations have been apparently going on for a while and both Alexis Sanchez and Ozil have less than a year left on their contracts.
Ozil has always hinted about his desire to stay at The Emirates beyond his current contract but nothing concrete has materialised regarding a contract extension.
Reports say that Arsenal have offered Ozil a new contract worth £275,000 a week, but the player is demanding as much as £350,000 to sign a new deal at the club. Personally I think he could be trying to price himself out of the club.
The report further elaborated that the playmaker’s days at The Emirates are numbered but the problem at the moment is that there have been no concrete offers for the World Cup winner.
Ozil could feature tonight as we travel to face Red Star Belgrade in our third Europa league game on Thursday night but he’s more likely to be given a rest ahead of our crucial Premier League game with Everton at the weekend.
