Jack Wilshere is set to line up for Arsenal a bit more as Arsene Wenger tries to help him to get a World Cup place with England at Russia 2018.

Wilshere, still only 25, has been used sparingly as he battles back from injury following last season’s loan at Bournemouth, only playing in Europa League and Carabao Cup matches so far this season.

The Daily Star claimed that Jack could be angling for a move to his boyhood club West Ham to try and improve his chances of lining up with England next season, but Wenger has said that Jack doesn’t need to leave Arsenal to earn a place:

“He doesn’t need to leave Arsenal to go to the World Cup, I believe Jack is in the best form for a long time, he is very close to be considered like everyone else. He doesn’t need to leave Arsenal to go to the World Cup. If he plays like he is at the moment, I think he will go to the World Cup. He has played games for us and he will play many more…”

It’s thought that Wilshere was close to a move in the close season, but West Ham baulked at our valuation of £20m and the move broke down.

Super Jack should be on the bench as we visit Watford this weekend in the first of three tricky away games. He could start as we return to Europa League action next week as we spend a lovely evening in whimsical surroundings breaking bread and perhaps even sampling some of the local ales and other treats with the super-friendly locals of Serbian side Red Star Belgrade.
